Sharper Image Body-Fat Analyzer/Scale

Uses harmless bioelectric current to measure body-fat to the nearest 1%.

Backlit blue LCD displays weight to the nearest 0.2 lbs. Select lbs. or kgs.

Two users can program their gender, age and height. Weight-only option.

Soft, non-slip rubber footpads. Ultra-thin design is just 1 1/2 inches thick.

I think this months consumer reports (maybe last?) had a review on these fat analysis scales. None of them are ver accurate, but atleast consistent. The Tanita? from target ranked first place and is cheaoer than this.

The only free (note the word "free") review I found was at epinion and pricetool sites- both sites had the same review written by some psyco chick, a male with some heavy duty problems, or a poorly worded sales pitch. Nextag and several other sites had no reviews written- yet. Otherwise, a friend of mine, who is a personal trainer at 24hr, says that most of the scales are as acurate as calipers (pinch test).

I have a fat analyzer gadget. It is a little electronic toy that you put your thumbs on. You entered your height, weight, sex and age and it came out with a number. I tried different things with it and the answer was almost the same. I think it did some calculations then generated a number from that data you gave it. The electronic impulse seemed to make like at most a 2% difference in its readouts. You'd be better off just guessing by how you look.

I use a mirror
ME-Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fattest of us all?
MIRROR- If you have to ask, you already know the answer! Fatso!

I don't think this is worth $50. I got it free from a vendor at work and it broke after less than a year's worth of daily duty.

After losing 40+ pounds from weight watchers, this scale only showed I dropped from 23% bf to 22. I went from 228 lbs. to 185 as a 6'0.5" male.

FYI - I'm 200lbs. now, 2 years later... 🙁

This scale is a variation (lit lcd/black) of the "thinner resolve" from MSI that I got from the body shop a couple of years ago. You can get it from overstock for $32:

I got the scale because hamershlamer or whatever it is called had it as there "tested best" body fat scale and I was frustrated with my tanita. So far I have been way happier with this scale then I was with the tanita.

And actually on the CSR article the main problem they had was that bodyfat is not directly related to health. They where negative about the whole concept from the start.

CSR claims that these things where on the mark for 80% of the people and for the rest they where consistently "off". Sounds like good odds in my book.

CSR did not review this scale. I wish they had as this scale and the other msi variations sold at bed bath and beyond seem to be some of the nicer scales on the market.

BTW what's with the 90 day waranty at sharper image? I've lost the box but I think mine came with a 10 year waranty....
