Sharpen text in WinXP Pro

I can't remember where to find the radio button to click to sharpen the text in XP Pro when using an LCD monitor. Can anyone help?

Go into Display Properties and choose the Appearance tab. Then click the Effects button. The second choice in that dialog box asks about the method to use to smooth screen fonts. Choose ClearType from the drop-down list.

Well ClearType actually decreases sharpness by extending font shapes to additional sub-pixels. Some people prefer "sharp" fonts without ClearType. I for one, couldn't live without it.

I like smoothed fonts on OS X, but ClearType gives me a headache.

You should play with the settings, then. They accomplish the same thing, after all.

There is definitely no comparison IMHO. I've never been able to tweak the XP ClearType to look anywhere near as good as it does on OSX.
