When you approach or walk past a person on the street, what causes them to sometimes sniff sharply? This is one strange observation I've noticed unintentionally.

Is it an act of agression, or perhaps is something related to our inner-instincts that we need to sense the smell of others?

Probably means you need a bath.

Funny thing is people sniff from sometimes up to 10 paces away. If a have B.O., that must be some spectacular problem I have then :)

I have a feeling they sniff on impulse of the sight of someone approaching.

I'll do it once in a while if I notice some weird odor in the air. Other than that, if I walk past someone, I barely even notice them...
