Not a bad price for a 52" TV. It is last years model from a good company. The only issue I ever hear about Sharps, and its from AVSforum so Its largely overblown is banding, but everything else I hear about Sharp TV's is top notch. If you do get banding, I hear Sharps customer service is very good about replacement TV's.

The tv is about 1800 on amazon. Great tv, get a low profile mount and put it on your wall and it just stunning depth wise.

I have the D62U which is the same panel. It is pretty good (albeit not the best) but for the price it is wicked.

I got mine for 1800 on Boxing Day up here D64's are starting to go for 2200 here now.

It doesn't do dark scenes to well, but brightly lit movies look awesome.

I would pick up the Samsung LN52A550. It's less (less than 1800 shipped from many reputable sites), does blacks far better and no banding issues. It also has a very non-reflective screen. I just set up this set for my mother and I was extemely impressed.

I think my parents have one. Good LCD, not amazing. But I'm spoiled by my own TV, too.

I would agree with amused that the 52A550 is a much better choice than the Sharp for 1800 dollars. When I initially read your post I thought it said you could get the 52" for 1300 dollars, which would definitely be worth it, but for 2000, the A550 is newer, looks better and has better processing IMO all for cheaper....
