So im looking for an awesome screen to go along with my ps3 and PC.
Definately looking for something in the 42 to 46 inch range

im considering the LC-60C46U (46 inch) and the LC-42D62U (42 inch) from sharp.

Ive heard many good things about the Aquos screens and id like to hear from people who have had some experience with them.

now they have 4 models in the 46 inch range, but other than more connections and HD component inputs that support 1080p, is the visual quality any better? Even the base model has 2 hdmi that both support 1080p, which is fine for me since i could use one for the ps3 and the other for my pc via hdmi/dvi cable.

So my final question is: are there any other alternative screens out there that produce a great picture, are 42/46 inch, and have 2 1080p inputs?

also if you can forward me to other forums i may be able to get some useful info at id much apreciate it.

I have a Sharp LC32D41U (720p) and its absolutely beautiful, especially after professional calibration. I highly recommend Sharp sets, as they are more affordable than the only other comparable sets, those being Sony and Samsung. Excellent PQ. :)

Unfortunately the Sharp D62U and D92U are notorious for having banding issues. Check out the "official" thread for those models on AVSForum. Having researched this for about 6 months I just pulled the trigger on a Samsung LN-T4661F 1080p 46" LCD. It and its near cousin the 4665F (glossy screen, higher contrast) have had VERY favorable reviews by the avsforum community. It has 2 HDMI inputs.

The 42in is based on a different panel than the 46in and 52in screens are. The 42in hasn't had nearly the problem with banding that the other two have at the expense of some contrast and off center quality. My 42in is completely free from banding but my dad's 52in has it really bad. I'm extremely happy with my 42in and unlike a lot of purchases I make, I haven't second guessed it since I bought it.

You should be able to find it for around $1500 in stores these days. I paid $1900 for mine in November of last year so I can't imagine it would be that tough to find. When I got mine I had BB price match to CC for their price of $2000 and then BB took $100 off because I signed up for HD cable through them.

how old is this screen? is there something comin out around the corner i should get instead?

read on here about something coming out from samsumg, q81? Anyone know what size this panel is or how much "better" its suppose to be? I imagine the price will be a premium.

Samsung 81 series ships next month and is heralded as HDTV Armageddon. The verdict is still out on how it's actually going to perform but on paper it should blow all other HDTVs out of the water with its insane contrast ratio and near-absolute blacks.

They use to be the standard in which all other lcd screens were judged on but has since been de-throne by Sony and Samsung displays. They're still great lcd tvs though.

I can attest to this as well. I have the 42" 62u and it has no issue with banding and produces a fine picture. However, the picture pales in comparison to my 50" 1080p Panasonic. It's not a subtle difference.

Have you looked at the 42" 1080p Panasonic?

No i havent taken a look at panasonic. Is there 42 inch model on par with the quality of your 50 inch set? Got any specific model numbers i should go look up?

Well hype usually never matches up with reality, but i guess i should wait fot the samsung 81 series. Is there going to be a 42 or 46 inch model? any guesses on what the price of these screens will be?
