Anyone see when the Orca ate Jaws? Orcas will flip great whites on their backs. This puts the shark to sleep and defenseless. Then the Orca kills the shark and eats its liver.

We should have Orca week!

Shark week, well, jumped the shark last year with the Megalodon crap. It's all downhill now.
Well this year, they're featuring his smaller brother "Colossus". It's only a 35' shark that they're trying to find since 2011.

Lol @ Submarine. I watched it for the lawls, but I mean... really? How much of that was based in any kind of fact or reality? 1%? Some guy in a fishing boat 40 years ago maybe saw a large shark, and then they made up a story that it's now eating people in 2014 and has the ability to breathe while not swimming?

This was like the mermaid thing Discover ran last year. Probably a whole bunch of suckers out there thinking this actually happened. Discovery needs to stop with these mocumentaries. It's ruining what little integrity they have left.

In honor of the week, I am playing a bit of Jaws Unleashed where the guilty pleasure of being a great white tearing through anything in the sea is realized. You guys with Androids should check out Hungry Shark Evolution, I got myself and my fiancee addicted to it.

Dude, the Submarine deal is real. A lot of the footage they used are actual footage.

I bet you go around telling children there are no Santa Clause either, right? :colbert:

this seems fitting, here's a shark i caught and ate a few weeks ago.

i'm a huge shark fan in general and am fascinated by them a lot, and i honestly had mixed feelings about keeping one to eat when we were out there. but the captain and deckhand said they catch and eat them all the time, just like any other fish, so i had to put my feelings towards them away and just do it. it was a tasty little feller, and i made sure not to throw any of the meat away and ate all of it.

i will definitely be checking out shark week this week.

Shark week, well, jumped the shark last year with the Megalodon crap. It's all downhill now.

This year it's "can a shark live in the Great Lakes". Spooky. Except I'm pretty sure a salt water fish couldn't really survive in fresh water.

Discovery got into some trouble a few weeks back after doing a hoax news story that a shark had been spotted in Lake Ontario. Police and wildlife authorities weren't amused.

bullsharks can live in freshwater for quite a while, however they have to be able to get back to saltwater at some point too. so yeah, having a shark in a freshwater lake with no access to saltwater is not possible.

The Discovery channel used to be about education and knowledge. Now shark week is just another publicity stunt.

Your okay with them turning into a syfy channel now?

TBH, I don't remember the last time I watched anything educational on Discovery channel. Been that way for about a decade now?

It didn't start last year. Its been getting steadily worse over time.

Of course you can't mention all the BS without certain people on here going off about it being "just because ATOT hates everything that's popular."

Oh and look at that, more evidence of just how much BS Shark Week really is.

EDIT:

this monster hammerhead show on right now on discovery is pretty damn awesome. the camera work is really good, the slow mo HD underwater shots look really good.
