Sharing web and files from PC to laptop, help?

UpgradeFailure

So I am trying to share the web and files thru my moms PC to her laptop.
The PC has broadband hooked up via ethernet. And has a wireless card in the PC. The laptop has a wireless card.
How do I go about having the web/files be shared via my moms PC over the wireless card, to the wireless laptop card? I turned on file and internet sharing and everything, but nothing seem to flow right setting it all up.

Any help?

Run through the Networking Setup Wizard (see Help & Support or Control Panel -> Network Connections) on both machines, and see if that helps.

Before doing anything else, check to make sure that the laptop and desktop can "see" each other. Since you're not using a wireless access point, set them both to "ad hoc" mode. Check your wireless NIC instructions on how to do this. You might want to check this link too:

Once you are sure the computers can "see" each other, enable Internet Connection Sharing for the ethernet conneciton, and choose your wireless card as the "sharer". Give your laptop wireless card a 192.168.0.x IP address, with the DNS and Gateway configured as 192.168.0.1. Finally, don't be afraid to use ping to troubleshoot your connection. Good luck!

This is just not working right..I don't know why. Hrrrm..

Could I just get a $20 wireless router from frys and plug it into a free port on my wired router, and use that to get the laptop going easier?

Yeah. I got it all going just fine. I'm happy, except it only works via one PC and not my moms. It doesn't seem to work on hers, but it's all the same (XP, SP2 etc) so I am not sure why. So I have to work on that. Works via my PC though just fine. The problem was the stupid software that came with the cards, it messed everything up
