Sharing violations in Win2K

I've been getting occasional error messages in 2000 saying there has been a sharing violation. The messages appear after I close certain programs (only Word 97 and PowerDesk so far) telling me the program "will be closed" and that I'll have to restart it. In the Dr Watson error log is lists it as Exception number: c0000005 (access violation).

Can anyone tell me what this means and how I can fix it.

Windows 2000 SP2 installed?

When did this start happening? What has changed since this started happening? Think back...

Latest Office 97 SP installed? Whatever it is... I forget :)

SP2 is installed. I haven't loaded any fixes for 97 though.

EDIT: I just checked the MS site and there are no recent service packs for Office 97.
