Sharing printers over the internet?

Is there any applications I can use to do this? We have two broadband connections from two different providers in our house (one cable, one dsl, absolutely necessary for the heavy users ... cough 😛) but the good printer is on the other machine upstairs. So I'm wondering if I can do this with just XP or if I need other 3rd party software?

Not sure how you would share over the internet, or if windows has that built in, but how do you have your PCs set up/arranged and what version of windows (XP Pro? Home?)? I have 2 connections also, 1 Cable and 1 DSL. I have them both on the same network thanks to a set of routers. My Main PC uses cable (faster in my area, but tends to go out when it rains). My laptop and gf's PC use DSL (far more stable). Our printer is attached to my main PC. All PCs have static IP addresses most of the time. My DSL router (Linksys WRT54GS) is set to allow 1 DHCP IP for when I have to switch to DSL quickly. My cable router is a Linksys WRT54G (Wireless disabled). All computers, routers, and modems are in the same room though, although the laptop has been known to hide out in the living room during football season so I can keep tabs on my fantasy football team 🙂

Well, I was hoping there was someway I could do it over the net, I take it you're locally routing the printer sharing through routers (i.e. from dsl to router, to other router connected to cable, to PC connected to cable router.

Setup vpn on computer with printer. Share printer.

log into vpn when printing is needed, from other computer. Make sure the shared printer is loaded.
