Sharing printer on W2k machine with Win me machine?

Maybe someone can help me,

I have a small home network that I'm trying to share resources. I have a printer hooked up to a win2k machine that I would like to share with the other machines running win me and win98. For some reason, winme and win98 can't see the printer on the win2k machine.

Could someone tell me how to setup the win2k or winme machine so that the winme machines can use the printer on the win2k pc?

I have printer sharing enabled, and the printer is shared. Other win2k PC's on the network can all see and use the printer, only winme/98 pc's can't.

thanks for any help!

On Win2k you will have to create the same account that you have on your Win9x machine without a password. Basically, goto your start button on Win9x, look at the name next to the logoff item, then create that same account on Win2k and make the password blank. This is assuming that you don't actually log onto your Win9x system. If you do log into your Win9x system, then you will need to create that account and password on Win2k.

Tried that, and it still doesn't work. When I go into network neighborhood in winme, it shows the win2k PC, but it doesn't show any of the shared drives or printer.

I checked permissions on the win2k machines and made sure it allows everyone to use the drive and printer, still doesn't work.

Microsoft's knowledge base hasn't been very helpful 🙁

Instead of adding everyone add that specific account you created that mirrors your Win9x account. Add that one account over in the permissions and remove all others.

You can also recreate your Win9x account by deleting the *.lwp or *.pwl files then reboot.

This all should work if you are doing it correctly.
