Sharing one cat5 port with xbox360 and DVR

I have one cat5 line coming into my bedroom. It would be virtually impossible to install a second line due to the setup of my attic. I have an XBox 360 and HR20 Directv DVR in the room. The 360 is connected to the plug, the DVR is not. Of course, this means I can't order movies or use On Demand due to not being plugged in.

I am trying to figure out a solution to have both boxes plugged into this one port. Is it a matter of just getting a switch? And if so, what is a decent, cheap switch? If I'm on the wrong track, what is the right solution?

I believe the HR20 has 2 ethernet ports. One is a passthrough. So you can plug the wall into the HR20, and connect the 360 to the passthru jack on the HR20. Aside from that you need a switch.

Even if this works, a $10 switch will almost be sure to work better and potentially save a lot of hastle.

Yeah, I was looking at that, but I couldn't find confirmation that it would work that simply (the manual didn't seem to note it at all). I'm going to go with the switch.
