Sharing internet with neighbor, how to wall off?

I'm going to split costs with a neighbor and share my wireless connection. My question is how do I go about walling off my own network, ie how to keep the neighbor from browsing my own network. Would setting up a second router (which I have available), connect it to the primary router, work? They would have their own SSID and password. In the event that the neighbor incurs a virus that is able to spread through a network, is there any way to prevent it from jumping onto my own network?

Thanks.

You could have two separate subnets/broadcast domains.

The trick is to find a router that can support a main SSID and guest SSID, and find a network with the requisite firmware.

I know my router has wireless isolation which can be set on each band. Maybe you can give them one wireless band and you take the other?

Cisco E4200 allows for a "guest" SSID that is on a different subnet.

This router is dual-band and also supports Guest SSID, and it's not all that expensive. I have one and flashed it to DD-WRT, then Tomato, and I am pleased with it so far.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but between the 2.4 Ghz (main), 2.4Ghz (guest), and 5 GHz bands, wouldn't there potentially be 3 different SSID's?

You can install reasonable measures that will protect you from your neighbor, but I hope your neighbor realizes that the security measures do very little to protect him against you.
