I have two computers, one with an internal dsl modem. I want to network the two and share my dsl connection. From what I've read so far this setup means I can't use a hub or router, is that right? So, would I just connect the two with a crossover cable and a couple of Nic's and then use Microsoft ICS or something like that? Any help you can offer would be much appreciated. All the reading I've been doing about networking is giving me a headache...

That will work.

Your other option is using just one nic in the machine through a hub/switch and using Sygate or its equivalent. There are a few other solutions out there that often work better than Windows ICS and allow you to add more computers in the future.
