Sharing internet connection

My roommate and I have a cable line coming into our room, currently, my computer is the only one hooked up to the internet right now. We would like to share the line, so that we can both access the internet. The only thing is, we don't know how to do such, and I'm sure that there are many of you who have cable and are sharing it between two computers. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Buy a 2 port 10/100 router, an ethernet card for each one, and the manuals should give a good enough idea of what to do. Make sure you have a firewall such as ZoneAlarm. I prefer softwre ones, they do the job and are flexible, hardware firewalls are better but they tend to not be configurable.
