Sharing Internet Connection -- both NICs enabled kills net!

Hey all,

So I am trying to share my internet connection with a new computer. The computer with the internet connection has an onboard NIC and a linksys pci card. Whenever I enable the network connection that is hooked up to the new computer, the internet on the host computer stops working!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

my internet nic has the appropriate assigned ip.

and the other one has a 192.168, that shows up as the gateway for the second computer.

don't think it's that. 🙁

EDIT:

it appears that the host computer can no longer resolve IPs. I can still ping outside sites if I use their associated IP, but not the domain name itself.

And the reason/excuse that you are Not using a Cable/DSL Router is?

In any case, go back to square one, i.e. disconnect the Network and see if the computer by itself can use the Internet.

:sun:

because i just bought a new computer. Do I look like money? 🙂

I am posting with the original computer... all I have to do is rightclick-> disable the shared connection to get back on. Right click -> enable to lose the ability to resolve IPs.
