Sharing internet connect with wifi laptop with usb wifi nic?

I need to take my laptop to my gf's dorm over the weekends. Her place isnt equipped with wifi, so I would I be able to share her connection with my laptop by popping a wireless usb nic into her PC? I'd like this to be as easy and transparent as possible, so anyone with any expereince please let me know.
 
It should work, but it is one of these "Quirky" types of communication.:shocked:

Otherwise, if she has Broadband Internet, it might easier to split between the two of you the $20 cost of Wireless Cable/DSL Router.:thumbsup:
