1) The setup of my desktop PC as follows:
- WinXP
- ZTE 831 DSL Modem
- Linksys WRT54G
Status: I am able to connect to the Internet.

2) The setup of my DELL notebook as follows:
- WinXP
- Centrino
Status: I am able to make a wireless Internet connection

In short, all things Internet are okay with my desktop and notebook. But now, I want to share files between my desktop PC and notebook, wirelessly. Can this be done?

I also have a Canon BJC-255SP printer being hooked to the desktop PC. I would like to be able to print 'wirelessly' from my notebook to that printer.

 I am no techy, please go slow. TIA.

Yup, and XP makes it real simple. Just go to "My Network Places" (probably on your desktop) then "set up a home or small office network." Go through the wizard, and make sure you know the workgroup name (left to default it is MSHOME, I believe). Make sure you select the box that says "enable file and printer sharing" or something to that effect.
Set up both computers through the wizard, and as long as you're connected by the router (wired or wirelessly) you'll see each other. If you don't see either computer, chances are it's a firewall issue.
Just go back to My Network Places and click "View workgroup computers," and you should see the other computer there. Also, there is no installation necessary to print from your notebook. When you go to print, you'll notice that the printer the other computer "knows" will be in the list of usable printers.

Hope this helps,

Yes, I don't see the other PC. How do I go about changing the firewall setting?

While sharing files please make sure that firewall must be turned off to acces any other machine on your network. (windows firewall automatically comes in newer version of windows)
