Hey all...

ok, here we go...
I have my main pc setup up as win2k/win98se duel boot, but I mostly use win2k.

I have a linksys BFSRV41 router on @home cable

I also have 2 other pcs setup... both have win98SE.

These are all on the same Workgroup, and net beui is installed.

if from win2k I click on "computers near me" I can see them, but they won't let me in. they give me, "Incorrect passwords or username for (computer name)"

Any ideas what I have to do to set this up to share files?

Have you in fact installed File sharing, and then shared the drives you want to look at?? Under Network Properties, you need to install File and Print sharing (This is on your Win98 machines). After you have installed the file sharing, then you need to enable it under network properties. Then you need to share the actual drives/folders you want to share, and give them read/write access. One other thing. Under network properties, go to the last tab, Access Control. Make sure you are using share level access, and when you share the drives/folders, make sure the password is blank. (Unless you want all kinds of security on your home network.) Your linksys should protect you from the outside world, so....

Also, if you want your win98 machines to access shares on the win2k box, find out the logon name for you win98 machines, and add them as accounts on your win2k box. Then when you make the shares, add the new accounts to them also. Hopefully that should fix your problem.
