i'm receiving my laptop pretty soon and i want to tranfer most of my files from the old desktop to it.......

how can i go about doing this?? just both to the same domain name... enable C: drive for sharing on the desktop... use a crossover cable and share with that?

laptop is running xp home
desktop is running xp pro

thanks in advance

Yup, crossover cable will work. Same workgroup, no need for domains.

Share your C drive on the desktop and you should be good to go.

It might be a tiny bit more complicated than that. 🙂 You need to configure the TCP/IP addresses manually so they don't conflict. Of course, for the lazy folks in all of us, you could just install NETBEUI, no configuration needed. 😀
