I am using a D-Link 4-port router/switch to share internet and want to share files and printer between 2 computers. I can only see own computer in each machine not others. There is no problem sharing internet via DHCP in router and computers but I cannot see the LAN. Could any one shed the light on me and give a step by step instruction? Each computer has it's own name but all have same workgroup. TIA.

The Router is not an agent in the internal network sharing.

The phenomenon you experience usually occurs when the sharing settings are not correct.

The term "sharing" is used for Internet ?sharing?, and ?sharing? files, but from a Network point of view, these are different processes.

The content of the following links will help you with the settings:

Since you did not indicate which OS you are using you got them all.
