Sharing DSL: Please help.

My friend just got Verizon DSL and he wants to share a second computer to the main one, what is the best way to do it step by step please:
He will get a router and another ethernet card into the second computer.
Please correct me if I am wrong:
First you connect the modem to the router, then you connect two connections from the router to each of the computer? Is this right?
Is there any special procedure that I need to know once everything is connected to get things running smoothly?
Anyone here who has Verizon and are networking two computers? What brand of router should I get?

Thanks.

Ive got Verizon DSL and am currently sharing the connection amongst 5 computers. I am using a linksys router and would recommend Linksys. If you have any questions about the setup feel free to contact me via PM or AIM.
