Sharing Dial up on LAN

i recently tried to network my two home computers together, i got them to share and recognize eachother but am unable to share dial-up connection. Does anyone have any tips? thanks

I share a dial-up between 7 computers in my house. If you are running Win98SE, ME, 2K, or XP, they all come with Internet Connection Sharing. This is the easiest way to share a modem through your network.

ICS will work, but do a Google search on it first. There's a useful page from Windows98annoyances.com or something like that that explains the assumptions MS programmers used when designing the feature (like turn NetBEUI on for the network interface, etc.)

When using this with dial up, will the modem automatically get dialed when another pc is requesting it, or does the main computer already need to be dialed in in order for the other pc's to get on the internet or get e-mail?

You have an option for dial on demand. The only problem with this is the MS OS`s have an unrelenting desire to connect to the Internet.I find this to be a real issue.Lock your LAN down
