Sharing connections

I'm kinda new in this networking area and been through hell setting up my LAN at home. I'm just wondering that would a router be enough to share my Cable connection with 3 pc? If I have a router, I would not need a switch or a hub right?

Another question. Can you guys recommend me a site where I can learn to setup my LAN without testing all the portocols without knowing what is going on?

I'm about to buy a router for that exact purpose (instead of having the hassle of dealing with a server machine). The router itself is a switch that you can use even if you're not sharing an internet connection. I'm getting the SMC Barricade 4-port router that's currently in the Hot Deals forum from Amazon.

Anyways, yes it should be enough for your networking needs, here's a website that has lots of info on networking, it's not the cleanest site, but it's got a lot of info: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/
