Sharing an internet connection

Does anyone here share an internet connection with a hub? Recently, my ISP has done something so that the 2 computers in my house can't be online at the same time. I can't figure out why, but we pay for 2 ips and were always able to be online at the same time, each with our own IP. So, in a fit of rage, I bought a router and we can share an IP now. Anyone have any idea what might have gone wrong?

Your ISP has screwed something up. Call them. You want to waste the money on 2 IPs, make sure they're giving them to you. A hub is the only way you could share the connection that way.

Tell your ISP to kiss your a** and save your money. Any decent router will do what your wanting whether or not you're paying for an extra IP or not.

Well, I got it working now. It seems that I had to alter the MAC address for my mom's network card to match that of mine (some registry hack). Then, we both get assigned separate IPs and can be online at the same time with the hub. Wonder why that's working...

I can't seem to get my PC online- it's an nforce board that seems to have ethernet built into the motherboard AND I had gotton it another ethernet card just in case.
It keeps saying TCP/IP isn't enabled for my broadband (cable) connection and that I should talk to my network administrator. 😵
I have a hub, trying for 2 PCs and a Mac. I'm on the Mac and the other PC has no issues connecting to the internet.
