sharing an ameritech DSL connection

I have an ameritech DSL connection and my modem is connected to my system through the USB port. I need to sign in to actually use my DSL connection. I have a hub and I share the connection with 5 other computers.
But the problem is I always need to keep my system (where the modem is connected) ON. I cannot switch the system off and the system becomes very slow after sometime.
Is there anyway by which I could connect the 5 systems directly to the dsl connection rather than to connect the systems through my system which is in turn connected to the DSL line through the modem.
Need an alternative soon.
