Sharing a wireless connection between apartments... Help!

I've been sharing my wireless connection with my friends in the upstairs apartments. They pay half the bill, and basically just use it for email and web surfing, so it doesn't effect my bandwidth at all. But ever since I moved the router from the back of my apartment to the front of my apartment, the signal strength they've had has gotten pretty bad and they're constantly getting kicked off the network. As their 'ISP' they feel I should do some tech support.

What can I do so that they get a strong wireless connection again? I'd love to move the router to the back of my apartment again, but that's not really I'd like to do since I have so many things connected to the router through wires in the front of my apartment.

It sounds like your wireless router is now just too far away from them, or that there are more obstacles in the way now. Short of moving your router, or getting them to move their PCs ( ;) ) theres not a whole lot you can do - mess with aerials or get a wireless repeater and place it where your router used to be - but these aren't cheap

I think I've seen you quote that page in a good 10 threads in the last 2 days. :)
Probably because the word "Search" (as in the search button at the top of this page) is an English word. I.e. not American.

If people will spend 2 minutes to search, it will not be necessary to repeat every thing.:brokenheart:

However if you have a practical addition to the content of the link I will be glad to see it.:D

I had viewed that page previously. It just seemed a little expensive and unrealistic with what I wanted, which was a small boost in signal strength without the addition of wires. I was just hoping someone had tackled this problem in an apartment environment where there is no staircase between the upper and bottom floors.

You can play with location, but that entails Wires.

You can Boost with Hardware, but that entails buying more Hardware

I never tried to put a fan near the Wireless source blowing in the direction of the Wireless Client. May be it will push the transmission a little further.
