Sharing a scanner via a network possible in winXP pro?

http://www.eu.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/networking/homenet/ it says it can be done and I assumed it would be a similar process to sharing a printer but a right-click > properties doesn't reveal any of the same sharing options

how might I go about this?

is this really useful? you have to go all the way to the other computer to do the scan anyway...

For me it would be nice since I have multiple computers on a KVM, so they are all there. It would be cool if any of them could access the scanner.
