Hello all
I have a problem when sharing a HP laserjet 2200d printer on a network.
Here is the current network and printers:
8 systems running windows 2k pro.
1 server running 2k server, with a HP laserjet 4 connected to LPT1.
A LaserJet 6MP connected to a windows system on LPT1, and shared on the network.
There is no problems with sharing/accessing the LJ4 or the 6MP across the network.
Here is the problem........
I want 3 of the systems to use the 2200d as default printer to ease the load on the LJ4.
I connect the 2200d to LPT1 to a system.
I log on to the domain as an administrator.
Add a local printer, and give it a share name, set all page properties to A4.....
Add the printer as a network printer on the server.....
Add network printer (2200d) to 2 other systems, set it as default. These 2 systems work fine, they print from all apps tested.
On the system that has the 2200d printer connected, i log on as a domain user, add the 2200d network printer.
This is where the problems start.......
When trying to print a document from any app on any of the 3 systems that have the 2200d as the default printer.
It adds an item to the print queue on the LJ4 in the letter format...
To try and fix the problem, i remove the printer from all the systems and start again with a fresh install.
re-install the printer and the drivers to the systems, none of them will print at all.. they just default the letter format to the LJ4.
so i try again... uninstall the printer from the systems, this time I restart all the systems, and re-install the printers.
And i end up back where i started; with the original problem... 2 will print until i add the 3rd system...
does anybody have any idea why this is happening??
Am i doing something wrong?
Does anyone know if its a driver/compatibility problem?
Is the printer broken?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks all
