How is it possible? I am thinking of building a 2nd comp with parts i have around the house plus very cheap components to make a comp that i could hook up to my network and play 2 everquest accounts at same time. What i want to do is press one button to totally switch between displays and mouse and keyboard ports so i literally have 2 comps in one place. anybody understand what im tryin to do?

anybody have any ideas, suggestions?

I got a 2-port Linksys KVM kit (switch and cables included) from buy.com back in September for ~$60. This is a great easy-to-use switch and supported resolutions up around 19xx X xxxx (ok, I don't remember the exact pixel combination, but I know the first 2 digits 😛). The only reason I got rid of it was because of the hotkeys it used. The hotkeys let you switch computers and operate scanning features from your keyboard, so you could tap CTRL twice to switch between computers instead of reaching over to hit the button on the switch. Most "affordable" electronically controlled 2-port KVMs will have hotkeys (I've spent a lot of time looking for a cheap one that didn't). I had to change KVMs because the 2-port Linksys used CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT as hotkeys, and SHIFT and CTRL were important keys in some games I played. There's a slight delay between the time you hit the key and the time the computer sees the key press - you'll try to "jump" in a game with SHIFT and not actually jump until a fraction of a second later. So I sold my 2-port Linksys and got the 4-port Linksys KVM which only uses the ALT key for the initial hotkey sequence.

i got the linksys 2 port KVM switch for an expensive $9 ;p ... nothing wrong with it... it was brand new... I got it from office depot... it will do what you need. you might want to check your local office depot to see if they have any on clearance.
