Shared Network Connection Via Ethernet Cable

I have a desktop, that is connected to the internet via a wireless linksys card, and i have a laptop that usually is in the same room, and instead of buying another wireless card, is it possible to share the one connection via an ethernet cable? both systems are running windows xp and have an open ethernet port, if anyone can steer me in the right direction i would appriciate it.

Yes. Just enable internet connection sharing in Win XP and use a crossover/patch cable.

However straight thinking dictates that instead of spending $5 on a cable, spend $17 on a card and you will have stable system, rather than quirky double NAT.

well i already had the cables and cards, so i figure y spend more money but if there only $20 then i will consider it

also is it possible to share connection with linux and win xp?
