Does anyone else have this problem? Every once in a while during a fragfest (in both UT and Q3 online) when I get killed, the system will completely hang for 1 or 2 seconds.
This only seems to happen online and never used to happen with my AWE 64 Gold (but then again I rarely played online back then). However, the system NEVER crashes. After the brief hang it's perfectly fine again.
Is this because I'm accessing the hard drive? Is it because the sound card and game are fighting for memory bandwidth?

I'm currently running CAS 3 to see if that makes any difference but I doubt it because like I said the system is 100% stable otherwise and even the hang doesn't affect stability.
Next I'll try turning down sound quality.
I'm starting to think I never should have sold that AWE 64 Gold but the problem was that the SPDIF output didn't work with my sound system.
This concept of shared memory is very disconcerting.
