Hi,

I recently moved and must now share my private network (2 wired computers, wired printer) on a DGL-4300 router onto the house's linksys router.

I don't know how to do this.

What I need to do is not just make my router a switch by turning off DHCP, as I do very large file transfers between the two computers on my private network @ 1000Mbits.

So how WOULD I do this?

Basically all 3 devices need internet.. but I need my 3 devices on my D-link to not go through packets on the Linksys.

Thanks!

Attach the WAN port on your D-Link to one of the Ethernet/LAN ports on the Linksys. Set your D-Link to use DHCP on the WAN side so that it will have connectivity to the Internet through the Linksys, and set the LAN side of your D-Link to use a different IP address range than what the Linksys is using so that your computers will talk to each other 'locally' on the LAN side of the D-Link router when transferring files, and will go through both routers when they need access to the Internet.

Thanks to both you guys.... both answers worked perfectly.

Apparently the D-link DGL-4300 has an auto mux function on at least the WAN port so I didn't even have to mess with a crossover cable or anything! Brilliant!

Thanks again
