Hi,

I have 3 computers(Master, Mediacenter, Surf) with Windows 8.1. Master computer has some folders shared, some are password restricted to a account existing on the Master computer, some are set to everyone.

The Surf computer can see all the computers in the network but when trying to enter Master computers shares a username and password is needed, after this is everything fine. So I can´t get to the everyone shared folder before entering my account.

The Mediacenter can see all computers but when trying to enter any of the shares I get resources not accessable? I do not get any question about account, just that I do not have permssion or that the resources is not accessable.

When trying to share a folder on the Mediacenter somputer I says something like this folder could not be shared!? This have never happen to me before.

I have tried to uninstall the network drivers and reinstall but it does not help.

The network contains 3 computers connected with wire to a Netgear 3500 router. The Netgear is connected with the yellow port to a modem to get internet to the LAN.

The Mediacenter computer could use the shared folders on the master computer before but at this point internet was not working so I tried to reinstall the network drivers. This med internet work but the shared folders to stop working.

All computers is set to private network and its only the master computer that have a static IP.

The Netgear router did change IP range to 10.0.0.1 to avoid conflict with the modem but I have changed this back to 192.168.1.x and this is okay accordint to the operator.

So why are not the shared folders working anymore on this mediacenter?

Everyone means that you still must have an account on the computer with the shares.

So if

Sam
George
Doug

are the accounts on the machine, setting up a share with "Everyone" permissions just means that the Sam, George and Doug accounts can access them. If on the Media center machine, you have a Louise account, you cannot access the shares on the other machine. You'd have to add a Sam, George or Doug account to the media center machine, with the same spelling (case sensitive) AND same password as is on the machine sharing the folders.

Thanks, It is solved by doing a restore to an earlier point. But you are probably correct :)
