Shared Computing?

Would it be possible for there to be a distributed computing network for anyone to log on and boost their computers performance? Would the internet/network connection be fast enough to support sharing computer resources?

Yes it is, or will be possible.

You will be able to sell your excess/unused cycles. Or build up an account of computer power to be used at some later time.

It will end DC as we know it. Computer power will become another utility.

Today, if you want to, you can generate electricity for yourself and if you have excess, you can sell it back to the power company.

What GLeem said, but there is nothing like a realtime boost by now. So if you want to play Doom3 on you PentiumIII600 and you wnat to boost it, it's gonna be a long, long, long, (did I mention long?) time until such a realtime effect would be possible. 🙂
