Share your experience for overclocking ASUS P4S800-MX and Celeron CPU.

I burned my very old Jetway mobo and had an unscheduled mobo purchase. I was planning to build a new rig with AMD Venice and NForce4 Ultra mobo and I already have my new OCZ 520W PSU. Luckily, I can use my new PSU now.
I'm still using my old 1.7Ghz Intel Celeron on my unscheduled purcahse of ASUS P4S800-MX and a PC2100 512mb of memory(256mb on each slot). I was just wondering if there's a chance of overclocking this sweet mobo and CPU. I'm just curious on how far this mobo and CPU can go with overclocking. I'm currently on 17x multiplier for the CPU and didin't change any for the memory. Can somebody with same mobo and Celeron CPU share their experience.

Probably get about 2-2.2GHz on it. Might need extra voltage. The 1.7GHz desktop Celeron is a 128k cache Willamette core. Those .18 micron cores officially ended at 2GHz.

The Asus P4S800-MX has an AGP/PCI lock and 1MHz FSB increments from 100-260MHz. It lacks dual channel RAM support and voltage adjustments. Voltage can be increased with the wire trick.

Karaktu is selling some 1.8GHz mobile Celerons with double the cache that yours has, plus can overclock on that board to 2.8GHz or more - yup, a 1GHz overclock. Think he's selling 'em for around $50, but don't quote me on that.

Hahahaha! So that means the memory stick is deadlock without the wiretrick and all that can be adjusted is the CPU. Well, I don't need Karaktus' help for $50 since I'm going to build my rig after a couple of weeks Venice is shipped.

I think i will...but not yet decided since I have to get the new rig to stable which is not yet assemled since Venice is taking its time.

Yes but mines only 1.7 intel celeron and using cheapo PC2100 2x256. Were you able to tinker with the memory sticks on the mobo? I heard that you can't do anything on the memory side except for the CPU multiplier which you can increase.
