This one is a great way to impress a date if you're cooking for her at your place...

Take maybe 1/2 cup of sour cream, and stir in a few tablespoons of brown sugar or so, to taste. Just sample it along the way to get the right balance of sweet and tart.

Then dip fresh strawberries in said creamy goodness, and feed them to your date.

Works better with cream cheese instead of sour cream in my opinion.

Suit yourself, bt IMO the tartness of the sour cream is a great accent to the sweet brown sugar and natural sweetness of the strawberry. Plus, sour cream isn't as thick in consistency as cream cheese.

But to each his own...

Cream cheese has a bit of sourness to it as well and if you whip the cream cheese with the brown sugar, it comes out nice and creamy and fluffy. :awe:

I learned this trick from my dad.

Basically on the weekends he cooks up big hunks of different meats. He'll do a pot roast, a turkey, a ham, a pork loin... all in the same weekend. Then, he'll basically just dice them up and wrap them in tin foil put inside ziplocks to preserve freshness.

Then, for his lunches all week, he'll stuff a few sandwich baggies full of the different prepared meats, and then one or two baggies with cubed cheeses like cheddar and swiss, then another couple baggies with raw broccoli and raw carrots. Throw the whole lot in a little personal-sized cooler with a freezer pack to keep it cool throughout the day. Makes for really convenient eating, and really healthy too, not to mention cheap! 🙂

My mom showed me this snack just last year and used sour cream as well. So delicious!

Ok this one is kinda weird but I am all about finding good stuff to mix with ice cream. Cook a regular pan of rice-krispy treats. After they have cooled, take one and put it in a bowl and then put it in the microwave for about 25 seconds. When it comes out it will be soft. Press it in and make a sorta bowl shape. I use the back of the ice cream scoop. Then put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Makes for a tasty and crunchy treat!

Donut Burgers

I can't imagine ever eating such a thing.

I've never had one, but I can't imagine the taste being a whole lot different than those McDonald's McGriddle things, or having maple syrup on sausage or bacon.

I've never had a McGriddle, but syrup on some types of sausage is good. Even so, the donut is not appealing, and the cheese makes it even less so IMO.

some really good ideas in this thread.

my only (serious) offering is mini pretzels + philly cream cheese. I find that combo difficult to stop eating once I start.

Pretzels.
But not just any pretzels.
Square.

Dump 1 pound into big ziplock bag with 1/3 jug of corn popping oil.
Add 1 packet powdered ranch. And maybe some garlic powder. Add very little salt. Trust me. Even if you think you like salt its too easy to go overboard, especially with whats already in there.

Now AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART, you must leave the bag the fuck alone for 24 hours.
If you used just the right amount of oil, most all of it will be soaked up and the suckers will be dry.
You will now have shorty's awesome pretzels.
Enjoy.

This will make me die sooner, but I am going to try it!

Alright well, I just made this up last night with Snyder's Butter Snaps pretzels, Orville Redenbacher Butter Flavored Popping Oil, and Zesty Italian Dressing mix instead of ranch. I'll report back to describe it's awesomeness in about 6 hours. 🙂

Ultimate grilled cheese:

- Melt a good 2 tbs of butter in a frying pan
- Place 2 slices of bread in the pan, put a slice of American cheese on each side
- Brown each side of the bread
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and then flip it over so the cheese starts to fry
-When the cheese is crispy, repeat for the other side

The effect you get is like the crispy cheese on the outside of a pizza crust that everyone loves, and then melted cheese goodness on the inside. My family insists I could open a bistro and only serve these 😀

One of my favorite snacks:

Beef summer sausage
Block of colby cheese
Regular saltine crackers
Miracle whip

Just slice the sausage and cheese up. Put a piece of each on a cracker with some miracle whip.

Buy delicious seedless grapes, throw them in the freezer. They become mini frozen pops! Sweet, icy, & soooo good. The best part? It's healthy!

[Commonly known]
Go to Wendy's and buy fries and milkshake. Dip fries in the shake and eat it. Yes, I was just as grossed at first back in college. It's undeniably yummy in an unconventional way. I guess a similar reason why fried ice cream is so good.

Holy crap. I was about to say this past weekend I discovered cutting a banana into bite size chunks, freeze them, two hours later it's like banana ice cream.

Slices of SPAM + soy sauce + sugar. Fry it a bit on both sides, serve with rice or something light. mm so good!

Celery sticks with peanut butter is awesome

BBQ chips with cottage cheese (fuck year this is good)

Cottage cheese with seasoned salt and sunflower seeds

This is a good one for parties, my wife has been making this for years, everyone we know requests it anytime we are going there or they are coming over

2 cans of chicken breast from costco
1 cup or two of shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup (or less depending on taste) of blue cheese dressing
2 packages of cream cheese
AND
a cup of your favorite hot sauce, like Franks Red Hot or something

Combine it all in a crock pot for a few hours, mixing it up

Dip tortilla chips into this sheeet and enjoy life
