So I'm one of the floor tech types and one of the other guys wants to share his printer with ONLY the guy in his room. We're in a college dorm
He's got XP Home, my route of using Share Permissions to set things up is right out.
The printer is a usb model btw.
Thoughts:
Try and use XP Firewall to block everyone but the other guys IP from incoming connections on those ports.
Safemode, give the other guy a login, and setup a hidden share w/printer. Set share permissions as per normal. (USB printer didn't show up in Home Safemode)
Safemode, remove that stupid EVERYONE group from everything, give login rights to the other guy (for the appropriate areas of the comp)
Bite the bullet and switch the damn printer to the other guys comp. He has XP Pro, no more anal workarounds.
