Share Win2k printer to any user on a Win98 box?

I would like to share a local printer on a Win2k box to any computer on the LAN. The other computers are running 98. I do not want to create users for each person that would like to print to it, I am fine just allowing anyone on the LAN printing access.

Right now I added "Everyone" & "Guest" to the allowed users of the shared printer and gave them "print" access. This doesn't seem to work. How can I make it just accept jobs?

Thanks!

all this would do is make it so that the win98 boxes have to log in using the username "guest". i don't think there is a way to do anonymous sharing through win2k like that. you would have to make usernames for each win98 login on your win2k box.

zayened is right. that is the only way to do it.

To clarify a bit. Each win98 box must be logged in with a user name and password that is exactly the same as a user name and password that is allowed to print locally on the 2000 box. It can be the same user name and password for every win 98 box if you want to make it easier.

I think we are all assuming you are talking about a LAN without a domain controller - correct?

Correct, no domain controller.

It is a small LAN that is part of a campus Novell network though...
