The problem I have with this is both sides have to have the software. I just store all my music under Users\Public\. It's less of a hassle because there's no additional software needed outside of windows explorer. All my friends do this too and it works out in the end.

I've used simplified media for awhile now: http://www.simplifymedia.com/ and it works with winamp too.
