Settings -> More -> Tethering & portable hotspot -> Bluetooth tethering ("Not sharing this phone's Internet connection" OR "Sharing this phone's Internet connection")

I have played around with this function but can't seem to get it to work. I've got a galaxy nexus running 4.3, but this option - great that it exists - doesn't seem to work. I've been trying to get the internet to share in this way with my Sony Tablet S1. It pairs just fine, but the internet connectivity doesn't work when the bluetooth option is toggled on.

Has anyone had any success sharing internet in this way? Seems to me the receiving device would need to "understand" that it could receive the internet via a bluetooth pairing. Will this only work with other android devices running 4.3 or higher?

Any tips are helpful.

Bluetooth tethering worked for me since 4.1 which was my first Android. The OS exposes Bluetooth tethering if the device is capable, it seems. If you have another Android device you should be able to troubleshoot which one is not cooperating. Try visiting local Bestbuy or Staples. The new Nexus 7 does it very well.

Hmm... So the nexus 7 accepts internet via Bluetooth? How do speeds compare with typical WiFi tethering?

Does your tablet exposes "Internet Access" when paired with your phone? If not, you may be out of luck.
