Don't give google ideas. Not all of us want to whore our devices out for pennies.
Heh...I wonder what he'll think of my idea.
I'll pay him $1.20 per week to spam system notification bar in Android or iOS notification center with ads if he wants.

I'm not sure if he's in anyway related to the app developer or maybe he's just the typical teenager eager to do "anything" for any kind of money, pennies included.

I don't mind it too much, since you're unlocking your screesn anyway, might as well get paid for it :)

DuoLingo - from the original guy who brought you rosetta stone.

its free, full featured and a really helpful tool if you want to learn a new language. Check it out!

Thanks for this suggestion. I downloaded it to learn some basic Italian and German for an upcoming trip and it's great, appealing to the gamer in me to make me learn things.

No not related to the developer, I think it is a great idea and I'm unlocking my phone anyway. I also find the ads are the highest quality ads I've seen on a phone or computer.

We are both exposed to ads on our phone. The difference is that I'm getting paid for it and you're not.

When you get you app ready let me know I'll load it and you can pay me to unlock my phone also, just make sure the ads are high quality :) I'll gladly take your money :)

No need for the anger, simply don't load the app.

I'm not forcing anyone to try the app. I think the app is a very good idea than being made better everyday. If nothing else my lock screen is much more interesting now. The high quality ads do make it much easier on the eye and attitude.

What ads?
Go ahead and prove to me that I am exposed to ads on my phone.

Other than when surfing, this is only true for those people who think "free" is an important characteristic for a good app.
He doesn't get paid for ads during surfing either, so he can't use that either.

Even with those "free" apps, you can install ad-blocker apps to block their ads.
There are at least 3 different prominent ad-blocker apps on Android, if not more.

Yes...Anyone that installs adblockers on Android and isn't exposed to ads needs Xanax.

When you can't prove your stated point, attack the poster I suppose.

Rather than engaging you in your deflection:
I'm still waiting for you to prove that I am exposed to ads on my phone.

My stated point is that I like the app. I proved it by stateing that I like it here in this public forum. If you don't like the app, don't install it on your phone, it's just that simple. There is no need for you to get so emotionally involved in my decision to like it.

This thread is simply to recommend apps. I love post like these for it's a way I can discover new and innovative apps that have made an impression on someone else. You have contributed nothing to this thread other than to attack me. I read all of the post here, suggested an app that I like. I even bought the app that Red Storm mentioned. I found this nice new app because of a recommendation of someone else, so this thread is a success for me so far.

If you do not have an app to suggest please go thread crap somewhere else.

IFTTT (if this then that). You can create functions and have your phone do certain things based on what you specify in your function.

There's a similar app on iPad called Matcha, which Apple ended buying out for their algorithms.

I see this in the Apple app store but there doesn't seem to be a version on Android, at least I can't see it in the Playstore...

I think the point is that MOST users out there are exposed to ads. Even if you pay for a bunch of your apps, I'd say there's a huge population out there who uses free apps with ads.

His point is valid. Just because you install an adblocker doesn't mean his point is now invalid. It's like how when people say the Nexus 4 doesn't have LTE, but you show that yours does. Yes, if you hack it and do all these things to it, sure. But I still wouldn't go claiming the Nexus 4 has LTE to the general population.

Anyway, back to the ads talk, his point is that 99% of users experience ads in some form, either in an app, or on a webpage. Why not get paid for going through that by adding some not-so-intrusive ads?

Do you know how to read?
This is exactly what he said...

"We" as in both Lothar and him.

If he had said "MOST" rather than "We"(AKA Lothar, him, and possibly every Android user included), then you might actually have a point.
He wrongly assumed that I am exposed to ads on my phone and I rightly called him out on it to prove his statement. He has yet to do so.
Because he couldn't prove his statement, he resorted to deflecting by claiming that I need Xanax.

If that was his point, then he should have stated that from the very beginning rather than claiming that I'm exposed to ads on my phone.

Most people don't want ads on their phones but they don't know how to remove them. One of my favorite app is adaway along with a custom Rom to remove carrier apps that are intrusive and power sapping.

I'll throw out a few more that I've been enjoying lately.

Goolers icon pack
Floating notifications (great for still receiving notifications in full-screen apps)
Sliding Messaging (free version is a 15 day full trial)
