Share a cool new app you've discovered

I just recently discovered Minuum Keyboard and while I am a total swipe style typing fan, the one line keyboard really intrigued me so I bought it and took it for a spin. I have to say I'm impressed. I did not think the prediction would work well but it has done a great job. I figure if they can guess what you're typing on one line, then swipe style, one line typing should be possible too no? That would be the holy grail of keyboards for me.

Any new/cool/useful apps you've discovered?

Okay one more: Koushik Dutta released his Aircast app (beta, apk download) that let's you share videos from your Gallery, Dropbox, or Drive, straight to your Chromecast enabled TV. The app "self destructs" after two days, I guess they just want to do testing for now. Can't wait to go home and try it.

Minuum looks awesome and if it supports multiple languages like Swiftkey I'll probably make an honest attempt to convert.

This is probably not new information for a lot of people, but I just installed Lux Auto Brightness. It works amazingly well.

I'm enjoying Timely for Android.

Recently discovered how awesome UCCW can be. Using Elegante on my homescreen for a Daft Punk vibe, and beepingweather on my lockscreen.

Wow Timely is the best looking alarm/clock/timer app I've seen yet. Swiping in to add new alarms is real slick. Thanks! :)

I don't think posting whatever app was featured on the Verge/engadget/random android blog really counts as "discovering" it.

My personal favorite is smart tools. Has lots of nifty features that have come in handy.

Compared to finding it on XDA or in the Play Store? What's the difference? The point is to share useful apps that others may not know about, who cares where you found it?

Because we all go to those sites all the time.

Boeffla Sound Control.

It requires a kernel with support, but I finally have a way to make the volume controls on my Note II more granular than the default 16 steps from 0 to 100%.

Great thread idea! Only thing new (to me anyway) I've run across lately was Convertit! which I really like on a tablet.

As others have said, that's how I discovered it.

I read about it, tried it out, liked it enough to actually purchase the full version, and am now encouraging others to also check it out.

IFTTT (if this then that). You can create functions and have your phone do certain things based on what you specify in your function.

Canistream.it let's you search for a movie and see which streaming site has it available.

There's a similar app on iPad called Matcha, which Apple ended buying out for their algorithms.

I found this a couple of days ago myself. Great app. Helps me keep up with my French.

I love this app. I didn't used to, cause it was a gimped version of the iPhone version. But, now they made them the same. I use it almost everyday.

It's not an app, but a "store front" of apps.

F-Droid

Collection of open-source apps with many hidden gems. You can find some paid apps there as well, like BetterBatteryStats.

Mine is the Locket app. It basically replaces your lock screen with a high quality print type quality ad. Each time you unlock your phone you see a different ad. You swipe to the left to view the ads web page or swipe to the right to go to your phone's home screen. It will occasionally pay you 1 cent for viewing the ad on your lock screen. I've been using it about three weeks and am up to $3.61 woo hoo!! :)

The developers are running this out of their apartment right now but I think this app will be a huge success until Google gets involved. I was impressed with the idea and wondered why it took this long to put ads on the lock screen, but the paying you part is what sets it apart from other ads that you view.

I'm supporting this app right now in anticipation of where they take us.

No one is getting rich with this (except the developers hopefully) but for some reason I find this my most interesting app since I discovered Line 2 and Camscanner.

Sad... sounded nice but only has a few latin based languages. Japanese is by far the most useful langauge to me right now and I would gladly pay for it if the app helps that much.

Heh.
I can create an app that spams your system notification bar and also pays you 1 cent if you want. :whiste:
