I think this is Shaq's first public comments on the free agent signings. :)

"Last year I had a couple tanks, a couple grenades," O'Neal said in a telephone interview. "Now I got atomic weapons. I'm going nuclear. I'm Colin Powell, and I can drop the bomb any time I want to."

"Did I tell you Anthony Mason might be signing with us today, too?" he added. "That's going to be a lot of beef. No more Hack-a-Shaq."

"I'm not going to talk about Sacramento, because I've been hard on them in the past," O'Neal said. "But San Antonio's window is shut. That's right, the Diesel is back."

"Hey, they had a great year. It was their turn. Congratulations. That's all right," O'Neal added, before breaking into a singsong voice, " 'Cause they don't got two 7-footers anymore."

What a friggin' clown (note that if he were anywhere close enough to hear me I would tell him how clever and handsome he was in an effort to keep from being pounded into dust)

takes like 5 seconds, literally, to put in fake info and get a login/pw. I'm surprised everybody doesn't have one already from all the nytime links form /.

The silver lining in this cloud of stupidity is that the Lakers will look like complete morons if they don't win it all next years.....a la Yankees. :D

Man, it'll be so embarrassing if it happens. But unpredictability in sports makes it fun. :)

I love it when all the 80lb dorks on here try to go off on pro sports and athletes..

If Shaq is fat we should all hope to be in such poor shape.

NY Lakers? LA Yankees? Very creative boys and girls. Did you notice that Payton signed for the mid-level exception? In other words, he took a lot less money to sign with the Lakers than he could have gotten elsewhere. Malone signed for the league minimum for a veteran - how exactly is that supposed to be like the Yankees? Do you think Jason Giambi signed with the Yankees for anything less than top dollar? Mussina? Have you seen the Yank's payroll in comparison to all other MLB teams? The Lakers are nothing like the Yankees.

I don't even like the Lakers, but I feel compelled to correct the sports boneheads on here.

If you don't like sports, don't read sports threads, and, more importantly, don't post in them.

I've heard he shed quite a few pounds this summer from his intensive workout program.

LA, much like NY, has enough of a fanbase and generates enough money that if there was no salary restrictions in basketball, I'm guessing a player like Payton would ask for, and get more money. If there were restrictions in baseball, assuming the Yankees still had a stellar team (They do have a great farm system), I'd like to think that someone like Clemens (ie: someone who really wanted a ring), would sign with the Yankees still.

'course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)
