Major city with skyscrapers and dense blocks of apartment buildings. Chinese New Year's Eve. Open sale of fireworks on the street. Lots of light shows started as soon as it got dark and should continue all evening.

Yeah, but the thing that sucked was that everything is closed the first two or three days. Not having a kitchen in my flat sucked that week.
