Does the type or brand of shampoo you use really affect your hair? Will it affect the way you can style your hair? Does conditioner really matter?

I've hear that Nair is a great conditioner. Put on lots and lots of it. Leave in in for about a half hour, and repeat.

I noticed a big difference when I switched from using soap to shampoo in my hair.

My hair might be a little thicker since I started using Alberto V05. For $1 a bottle it does the job.

I have a bald fade with a 1 on top, so no.

Yes, it makes a difference. Whether the difference matters to you is a personal issue. I notice a lot more body and workability with my hair using Biolage shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and gel. I switched from Paul Mitchell because the Biolage smells waaay better.

yes. i believe it does. have found that shampoos like herbal essences really stripped my hair, while others (they dont have to be expensive, i.e. Pantene PRoV) are a bit more nourishing.

Eventhough hair is dead, i like it to be smooth and soft with no frizzies

As with nearly everything in life, you get what you pay for.

Having said that, if you have short hair, conditioner is a complete waste of time.

Not that there's anything wrong with that ;)

9 days isn't long enough for most people to figure that out

if you want to know about hair, find a forum with chicks, they know about "styling" hair

I've read about this and the answer is that yes, the brand/type matters, but not likely in the way you're thinking it does. if you look at the ingredients on the label, those wacky unpronounceable chemical things are what actually clean the hair and make it nice and shiny and soft and (in the case of women) attractive. All the other stuff is often not all that helpful.

Funny thing is, I remember saying to myself as I read that article "When the hell am I ever going to use this?". I'll see if I can't dig it up. I think it was in an issue of popular mechanics or something like that.
