The 8600GTS is about to come upon us. It turned out to be a huge surprise for the overclockers... 1GHz Core with just air-cooling!

1ghz with volt mod and 800mhz from standard stock cooling and stock volts.

Its going to get very interesting soon :D

My thoughts exactly. Single slot cooling, stock voltage hitting 800mhz is pretty impressive IMO. Add in DX10, 64 unified shaders, IQ and other goodies, might just make me pull the trigger instead of shelling out at a high end G8x variant like i was going to.

Any idea how many shaders it has? With the 8800GTX having 128 and the 8800GTS having 96 I am just curious.

now if only he covered the RAM chips on it also, i bet he could clock the RAM higher...

edit: by "covered" i mean put a heatsink over them

7900gt's were crazy volt mod overclockers. Mine was at 725/1000 rthdrbl/atitool stable. But, unless you upgrade once a year, don't count on longevity. My 7900gt is broke :( (But it did run at those speeds for over a year).

Yeah, a year is about all they lasted.

I sold mine to my neighbor and we voltmodded the snot out of that thing.

745/995 under water cooling. Even though temps were pretty low it died a horrible death in a little over a year.

Great cards though.
