Word was only software used, other than InDesign to handle the formatting for print and epub.

I created a general outline and notes on each of the characters, and put the book together at night and on the weekends. It took roughly 3 years to get it close to the current iteration. I hired an editor a little over a year ago and spent most of 2011 integrating some of his suggestions and changes into the work.

Wow.

About the cover: this picture made me think of.

XD. First thing a friend thought of, too, when she saw the cover.

Covers sell books. Well, covers and the blurb on the back. But the cover makes you pick it up and read the description. And, really, I don't think it looks too bad when I'm holding it in my hand. But I'm biased.

By announcing that there is already a sequel in the works w/ Evelyn in it, i know the sinister asshole of a fellow agent didn't succeed, it takes away some of the suspense!

Maybe it's her evil, point-elbowed, robotic re-incarnation that is written in the second book.

I've been enjoying it so far. Sorry I'm working on a big pre spring break programming project for a class. Once Spring Break hits or I finish this project I'll be sure to finish it. I'm only like 60 pages in. I feel like such a failure 🙁

Nice one Hoober. I am an indie author myself - good luck.

Get yourself on Goodreads if you aren't already.

No need to apologize. I'd love to hear what you think when you're able to finish it.

Congrats on your accomplishment. I really meant that. But with so much DIY, hearing the words "Just published a novel" doesn't really hold the same weight as it did before. It's like a 17 year old saying he just released an album. Oh really? From Garageband and your CD burner?

Congrats! Here's hoping you sell a million copies!

The only thing I would suggest is redesigning the cover - hire a graphic artist to make it more attractive looking.

I completely agree. And with so many Indie authors now, it can be hit or miss on the quality and consistency of the work. The problem is only exacerbated with a medium as subjective as books. Person A may love it for the same reason Person B can't stand it.

Just finished the book this morning and can't wait for the next one. The story never slowed down and just about everything was vividly described. While the build up was well-done, the ending was a bit abrupt...or maybe it just felt that way. I remember being at chapter 7 and then suddenly turning the page and being on chapter 28.

One thing I found amusing - the extra detail put into describing the weapons and women (clearly written by a dude haha 😀). Especially towards the end, Morgan came across as part FBI agent, part supermodel and 100% badass.

Also...
IMO, you presented a good idea. Rape victims should be allowed a rifle and one free pass.

And a couple questions...

1. Will the next book be released soon?

2. If this isn't plan on being clarified in future books... just how old is Ben Iblis? So he's been doing his thing for 30+ years and had Khalid for about 20 of those years? I am surprised Khalid managed to not get his ass killed by Iblis sooner.

3. What was/is Morelli's role in Wogan's organization? At first I was under the impression that she was just a mistress going the extra mile (by being with Bradley) but that changed with Wogan and his assistant's conversations as the story progressed. Based on her dialogue with Iblis at the end, it seemed she was a general purpose "do-dirt" person?

I'm glad you enjoyed the book!

To answer your questions:

1.
The tentative publication date for the next book in the series is Spring of 2013.

2.
I envision him in his late forties.

3.
She was hired as an operative to do whatever dirty work Wogan needed done. More will be revealed in the next book. A good deal of her background and motivations come out in the second book.

Nice, I plan on reading it when it comes out. March 1st is a ways away, you've got a few months to procrastinate before you start writing. 😉

I know a friend whose other half is in the process of getting his book published "THE LAST OF THE GODS". Wanted me to read it. Turned out to be your basic pedophile porn, man-boy lust crap, set in Roman era. Two chapters in, I quit and deleted it. Can't wait until he asks me what I thought of it... And yes, I will tell him exactly what I thought of it. Pervert.

(sorry... off subject)

I has a similar experience in college...a friend wanted me to read one of his short stories - it was basically poorly written soft porn that was laughable.

He went on to be a very accomplished writer for several of the star trek series.
