Shame on Macromedia...

i just spent three days straight trying to set up my local server to contact databases for web apps banging my head against the wall becuase i could not get RDS to work...turns out its a flaw in cold fusion/DW that a lot of people have....i had to add a code snippet to a file and then reconfigure it to work with windows services...i finally figured it out after reading multiple online sources and playing with just about every setting and configuration possible....

anyway it turns out its a pretty common problem that they still have not even fixed with CFMX2004, that has exsisted since the cold fusion 5 days. Man was i so pissed, i actually got a serious crick in my neck becuase i was in the same position all day saturday from 7 in the morning till 11 at night trying to figure it out...

this was after having windows SP2 problems with IIS...

man you would think with big name companies they would fix things like this, or at least offer decent documentation for it which they did not...(although i did finally find an old MS help file which taught me how to fix the database corruption that happens after installing SP2)

and this is all on legit and purchased software brand new out of the box, not some crappy warez stuff...

anyone else have problems like these?

Use .NET instead. I'm surprised Cold Fusion is still somewhat popular anyway. PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, etc. all are pretty mature in the market now.

ColdFusion is a nice development language but a POS application server. It's big, buggy, expensive and doesn't scale well.

thank you for the responces, i am only using it becuase i am still very new to the web site part of this (gfx wise i am good) and i decided to go with CF becuase it came with MX suite that i bought and there was more documentation for it...

But i found a good website that gives very detailed tutorials about how to install all the diff server apps and how to use them ect...anybody know of any other helpful sites? i'd really appreciate it...
