ok. i noticed this problem a few weeks ago and have tried everything i can think of. so far i've found that the default windows display drivers will not make the screen shake, i do seem to have a pretty big electromag field since i can get a pretty big degauss every minute or so. i've moved the monitor around and it still seems to have the same problem. yet i don't think it's the monitor since it's fine during post and it's fine under the windows installation that doesn't have ati's drivers installed. i've tried the latest and the original drivers for the card and they make no difference. i'm currently running 1024x768 with 80hz refresh, and i've tried lower settings and they simply make the shakiness worse. i've plugged the monitor's power into three different outlets, two different surge protector strips and that doesn't make a difference. as far as i know, the only other electronic devices right near the monitor are: the computer tower, an amp for my speakers, a tv, some lamps, a printer, the speakers are on a shelf above the monitor, and a zip drive. i've tried turning off various parts and they don't make a difference, i've disconnected and moved the amp and speakers, nothing, i've unplugged the tv, nothing. i've run out of ideas. i recently moved the system into the basement, and that's when i started noticing the problems, but i can't think of what is in the room that could be causing it, if it is external, which i don't think it is because it would cause shakiness no matter whether i'm in the OS or POST or whatever. please help me figure this one out because i would really like to be able to sit here for more than 20 min. without it driving me nuts.
