I order a hell of a lot of stuff online, a lot from Amazon...

This screw up was over the top though, i must have gotten someone's returned bike pump.

The handle was a bit dirty already, two zip ties were cut, the valve pack was just thrown in the box instead of attached to the pump body and the entire handle lock is missing...

I am going to use the damn thing to get the right pressure in my bike, but now I will be gone all next week so the new item is going to be limbo until I get back.

I hope they aren't moving returns through the normal site now.

Are you certain it was a "fulfilled by amazon" item?

Amazon sells in 3 ways (that I know of)

sellers take orders from the site and ship on their own.(think ebay style, seller pays amazon some listing/referral fees)

sellers take orders from the site but pay amazon to warehouse and fulfill the order. (seller has sent to amazon's warehouse the goods in advance)

Seller is a registered vendor of amazon. Amazon buys the goods outright from the vendor and sells and fulfills orders.

If it item was indeed sold by amazon you should be OK. The one time I received the completely wrong product they overnighted me the correct one free and included a label to return the wrong one.

All of the times I've dealt with amazon customer service have been great.

What probably happened, some amazon employee rode his/her bike to work, needed to air a tire up, saw your package, opened it, aired their tire up, then put the pump back in the box.

You should be thankful that an amazon employee is concerned about the environment enough to ride their bike to work.

Go to the local Hallmark store, get a "Thank you" card, and mail it to Amazon.

Yeah this was a sold by Amazon item. I have no doubts it will be rectified, just concerned they are reshipping returned items now.

Meh, Amazon ships so many units at break-neck speeds that occasional problems will arise. They'll overnight a replacement to you at the drop of the hat, though. I wouldn't be surprised if they overnighted Alky a replacement and didn't require the first one to be sent back.

What is good about Amazon is that they ship the right thing out in good shape 99% of the time.

What makes amazon great is how well they will take care of you and fix things the other 1% of the time.

That's what happens when you cheap out and buy off Amazon and not a boutique bike shop. You must be poor.

Yeah, srsly this.

I bet Alky is going to try to con Amazon into sending another one and then ebay the extra one to pay off some of his debt.

That's right. Enough of the Walmart bashing, Amazon is the demise of the mom and pop shop. Damn that Amazon! /shakes fist

No it's a time factor issue, amazon is hardly 'cheaping out'

Nice troll though, you realize you make a low income right?

Accusing someone of being a thief is a bit over the top.

I must ship the old one back or be charged for it.

The new one arrives on the 7th.

They shipped me a refurb GTX 470 one time that was supposed to be new. I started a thread about it here and everyone said I was overreacting.

You are buying a good air pump. I got a Joe Blow that's been solid for a couple years now.

ok , just checking .......as someone that also gets half a dozen or more packages from amazon per month i do find it EXTREMELY odd that amazon would do what you described.

I qualified that in the OP. I doubt many non-businesses order more than I do online each month esp in dollar amount.

The UPS guy must have opened it up and used it a few times before delivering it to you...:\

Wow, you're a big spender, huh?

Yeah actually I am, but if I list all my purchases for May 1 - 31; it would just start a ruckus.

I also stopped by a Kohl's this past month for some nice cheap shorts.

I buy a lot, I don't have kids. Some stuff I end up hating and lately I just donate it to Goodwill. I used to sell it on the forums and ebay, but my time is too valuable now.

So I shop online. If I could buy my groceries easier online I would do that too.
